Job Description:
A company is looking for a Medical Coder with Security
Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient
services and ensure correct DRG assignment
Code inpatient discharge records for optimal reimbursement and
perform tasks within military coding systems
Assist with ambulatory and outpatient coding and resolve coding
edit failures as assigned
Required Qualifications
Minimum of five years of medical coding and/or auditing experience
in multiple specialties, or three years in a military treatment
facility
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered
Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification may count
towards coding requirements
Advanced knowledge of ICD-CM, PCS, HCPCS, and CPT coding
systems
Understanding of reimbursement systems including PPS, DRGs, APCs,
and RBRVS
Practical knowledge of medical specialties and revenue cycle
management concepts related to coding
